How mutual fund returns are calculated

Absolute return = [(Current value − Invested) ÷ Invested] × 100
Annualised (CAGR) = [ (Current value ÷ Invested) ^ (1 ÷ Years) − 1 ] × 100

Absolute return tells you the total growth regardless of how long it took; CAGR normalises that growth into a yearly rate, which is what makes it comparable across investments held for different durations.
